Osaka Expo 2025 offers an unforgettable night-time art experience with the stunning Maximum Happiness installation! Marvel at glowing crystals and mesmerizing light displays in this limited-time immersive event. Don’t miss out on this top must-see Osaka art exhibit!
Visitors attending Expo 2025 Osaka can now experience an exclusive, limited-time nighttime viewing of the captivating artwork Maximum Happiness in Diversity at the signature pavilion Better Co-Being. Running from May 2nd through June 30th, this luminous installation will be open to the public during evening hours, offering a surreal, immersive art experience.
Situated within Sequence 3 of the pavilion, the artwork is a collaborative creation led by theme project producer Hiroaki Miyata and renowned artist Rinko Nagira. The installation features nearly 400 delicate wires stretched along a 7-meter-high canopy, each adorned with a sun catcher. The design celebrates diversity—the heterogeneous collection, with each element uniquely arranged to symbolize harmony among differences.
During daytime, sunlight causes the installation to shimmer with rainbow hues. However, at night, it transforms into a dazzling spectacle—countless crystals (about 15,000 in total) glow vibrantly, filling the space with an enchanting light. Known as the luminous version, this experience offers visitors a mesmerizing encounter with shimmering light and color within the open pavilion space, which has no walls or ceilings.
Complementing this night-time spectacle, artist Rinko Nagira has designed a special interactive stone called the luminous echorb. Connected through the official Better Co-Being web app and utilizing a heartbeat sensor at the pavilion entrance, the echorb enables visitors to engage physically and emotionally, resonating with their own heartbeat and fostering a deeply personal experience.
